Own It

Hey Peeps.

Last night I watched a documentary on Bleaching in Jamaica. For those of you who don't know, bleaching is the process of making ones skin lighter by using lightening lotions and gels. As you can imagine, watching this documentary got me thinking.

My first thought was "How can these people damage their skin for such a stupid reason". Some of you may think that they have the right to do whatever they want to their body. That may be true in terms of clothes, hairstyles and even tattoos. BUT, when you purposely go out of your way to lighten your skin tone for what you think is 'Beauty' ; I think that is crossing the line.

Everyone on this earth can probably pick out what they believe to be their flaws. But instead of using damaging means to hide/rid ourselves of these 'flaws', why don't we just own it.
Thanks for reading my rant lol and I hope you got something out of this post.

Bye for now.

  1. So true. It's crazy the extents people go to for "style & fashion" according to the people in the documentary.
