Twas the Night After Christmas

'Twas the night after Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were still hung by the chimney with care,
But the Christmas spirit seemed to be leaving the air;

The children were all enjoying their newly bought gifts,
While old Christmas wrapping paper lay out in bits;
And mamma in the kitchen, packaging all yesterday's left-overs,
Boxing day shoppers drop bags of weight from their shoulders,

When up in mind there arose such a thought,
I sprang from the bed because I was becoming quite distraught.
Away to my laptop I flew like a flash,
Tore open my blogger and typed really fast.

Although the season has now come and gone,
I think losing the spirit of giving is so very wrong,
Christmas is not just a day of the year,
But a reminder, everyday to spread love and cheer.

Peace :)
